Building on the success of the 2026 edition, the first under Ecotre Valente’s guidance, the Solidification Course is getting ready for its 34th appointment.
An event that every year brings together, in the Swiss mountains, engineers, researchers and professionals who want to master the science of metal solidification: not only in its theoretical fundamentals, but in the way these translate into product quality and process control.
From 23 to 28 May 2027, Champéry will once again be the beating heart of international training in solidification, with five days of lectures, hands-on exercises and direct dialogue with the field’s leading experts.

The course, held in English, offers a complete overview of the solidification of metallic materials, combining scientific foundations with concrete industrial applications:
– Thermodynamics and phase diagrams;
– Heat and mass transfer;
– Microstructures and defects: porosity, segregation, hot tearing;
– Solidification in multicomponent alloys;
– Additive Manufacturing and rapid solidification;
– Artificial Intelligence applied to foundry processes.

An intensive week that weaves together lectures, hands-on exercises, open discussions and networking moments. The topics range from the fundamentals of solidification to its most advanced industrial applications: microstructures and defects, casting and continuous casting, additive manufacturing, with growing attention to the role of artificial intelligence in foundry processes.
Beyond the training, every participant becomes part of an international community of alumni, lecturers and industry professionals, and receives the reference volume “Solidification” by Dantzig & Rappaz.
